About Palisades New York
Palisades is a hamlet in the Town of Orangetown, NY located in Rockland County. The hamlet is one Rockland County’s closest points to New York City at just 21 miles to the George Washington Bridge. Palisades is perhaps most well known for the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, owned by Columbia University, which has discovered numerous scientifically significant discoveries of the last 200 years and also successfully predicted the extreme weather changes associated with an El Niño event.
The Palisades Interstate Parkway provides easy access to NYC and the Northwestern parts of Rockland County. Palisades is situated between the New Jersey border to the south, the Hudson River and Tallman Mountain State Park. Tallman Mountain State Park can be seen in Palisades and neighboring Piermont. The St. Thomas Aquinas College, Rockland Country Club and Palisades Shopping Center are all within easy driving distance of Palisades which means residents and their families are never too far from local education, recreation and conveniences.
