About Newburgh New York

Newburgh New York consists of both the Town of Newburgh and the City of Newburgh although they both share the same school district. Newburgh is located at Exit 17 off I-87 with convenient access to I-84 which connects Newburgh to parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The entire Newburgh area, both city and town, have undergone major redevelopment lately including a number of new home communities, townhouses and condos as well as single family homes, an open air shopping center known as “The Marketplace At Newburgh“, and the influx of many national retail brands all in the Town of Newburgh which has helped transition the town from a rural pass through to an exciting suburban destination for New York City commuters.

The City of Newburgh is also experiencing a revitalization effort with Leyland Alliance, the developer behind Warwick Grove, proposing to build an estimated 500 – 600 homes on the waterfront and parks among other things. A new SUNY Orange campus is expected to break ground in early 2008 at the site of the old Key Bank on Broadway in Newburgh which is furthering the growth in the city. Aside from the wonderful new developments in the City of Newburgh the restaurant and entertainment district on the waterfront has become the Orange County area’s most popular setting for dining and weekend nightlife.

If you plan to commute to New York City you will be thrilled with the numerous mass transit options available including the nearby Cornwall train to Penn Station, multiple Shortline Bus pick-ups and ferry from Newburgh to the Beacon MetroNorth station that arrives in Grand Central. Because of the immense growth in the area there are a number of new hotels in Newburgh with the Hilton Garden Inn being the most conveniently located. We highly recommend spending a night or two and testing the variety of commuting options in Newburgh to see which one fits you best.
