About Goshen New York

To sum it all up in one word, Goshen New York is small town America. There is a presence of life and excitement which can’t be bought or found in other parts of the country. It may be the nearly 75 acres of parks throughout the Town and Village of Goshen with playgrounds, multi-use fields and picnic pavilions or the friendly locals at the farm market held near the village center. In addition to Goshen’s farm market and recreation areas the Heritage Trail, a walking and bicycling path built atop the former Erie Railroad line that ran through the area in the mid-20th century, extends from Goshen all the way into the Village of Monroe. The Village of Goshen plays host to a number of festivals outside of the farm market including an annual Jazz festival to commemorate the life of Willie “The Lion” Smith, a jazz pianist and decorated war veteran who was born in Goshen.

Harness Racing Museum and Hall of FameThe Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame (pictured to the left) is a hallmark of history as it represents a long line of trotter horses and the history of harness racing. The building faces Main Street diagonal to the Orange County government building in the Village of Goshen while the Goshen Raceway resides behind the museum. The track has been in use since 1838, making it the oldest operating track in the United States. The stables on the grounds continue to operate today as well and exhibition races are held annually.

There are a diverse number of restaurants to choose from in Goshen including national brands like Friendly’s and Pizza Hut as well as local favorite and four star rated Club Ontaroga with varied offerings ranging from martinis, sunday brunch and sushi to high quality “quick lunch” choices designed with the local business community in mind.

Speaking of the Goshen business community, a proposed 122-acre corporate campus is in the works for the Goshen area with preliminary plans calling for a headquarter building to anchor the campus. Orange County is quickly becoming a place where you can work, and live, which may make commuting a thing of the past for many business professionals.
