The lower Hudson Valley of New York is made up of Dutchess, Orange, Rockand, Putnam and Westchester Counties.

Hudson Valley Real Estate
The Hudson Valley area is well known for its commuter friendly location to New York City and, as such, newer homes are developed to accommodate those with a fast paced lifestyle. Commuting in the Hudson Valley
Commuters in the Hudson Valley have a vast number of options when it comes to accessing metropolitan workplaces in the region. The Port Jervis NJTransit/MetroNorth line runs through Orange and Rockland Counties into the Secaucus transfer. At the transfer you can take a PATH train into Penn Station. On the other side of the river there are multiple train lines with the western most MetroNorth line running from Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester into Grand Central Station.
CoachUSA has Shortline commuter bus terminals throughout the Hudson Valley that will take commuters into New York City. Traveling by car is also an option as future I-86/I-87 brings drivers into Rockland County and gives them easy access to I-287 and the Palisades Parkway to reach NYC. The Taconic Parkway serves as a major thoroughfare for commuters in Putnam and Westchester who work in the city.
Fun & Recreation in the Hudson Valley
There are more than enough parks to keep you busy for years in the Hudson Valley. For example, Bear Mountain State Park offers hiking, swimming, beaches, camping and cycling while riverside hot spots like Cold Spring serve as weekend destinations for photographers and antique collectors. Just about 90 minutes North of the lower Hudson Valley are numerous ski resorts including Wyndham, Hunter Mountain and Belleayre Mountain.
Shopping & Conveniences in the Hudson Valley
One of the most sought after shopping centers by world travelers is the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. The Woodbury Common contains over 220 designer stores with international brands like Fendi, Prada, Gucci and Nike serving as staples of the shopping plaza. Nearby, the Palisades Center in West Nyack is one of the area’s few mega malls and hosts unique features like an ice skating rink, IMAX theater and Ferris wheel.
In Westchester there are many shopping choices including The Westchester, an upscale mall featuring brand stores like Apple, Louis Vuitton and Nordstrom.
